Xmas Ball

My goal for this artwork was to show my reflection in a shiny silver ball. I used chalk pastel to create a monochromatic drawing of the reflection. We could go to different locations in the school to get varied backgrounds. What surprised me was how different the chalk pastel is from charcoal, even thought you can use the same techniques. The most difficult challenge was putting enough detail to show what the picture was, but not too much. I had to block out my logistical thinking and shift to my artistic thinking by focusing on shapes rather than objects. My drawing really works because you can tell what I'm doing and where I am. I learned to look at perspective and distorted shapes in the ball.
Kiana used red and blue to create a nice contrast. If I had a do-over, I would add more to the background in the ball. I feel the best thing about my drawing is the contrast between the ball and the background.
